Recline in the work of the Lord

Luke 17:7 - But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

Sometimes I get so angry when translations mess up with scriptures and try to give another picture which is not what the Lord had given. But then they are just fulfilling scripture for the Lord said that until the time comes the Truth will not be fully revealed.

I will note the interlinear of the scripture given to us as today's message.

Luke 17:7 who But of you a slave having ploughing or herding, who on coming in out of the farm will say to him: Immediately coming up recline,

Luke 17:7 - But, whom among you having a slave ploughing or herding, who on coming out of the farm will say to him: Immediately come and recline,

The Lord in today's message is speaking to 2 types of workers in the Lord Vineyard (farm) one who are preparing for His Kingdom and those who are caring and feeding His people. There are many others who work for the Lord (or claim to do so). Many among them do not know what role they are playing themselves yet advice others and then there are those who physically push the ploughing machine when God has given them the keys to it.

In today's message the Lord is telling us there are times when He calls us to rest in Him.

Just yesterday I was with a great Man of God whom the Lord is using in a great way in His Kingdom. As we were talking he opened up about his struggle in one area and was showing tiredness in that area. The problem was that although he has great faith in God and great passion for God yet he was not taking rest in Him. Even though this Man of God would take rest in half a place, he would be busy working in the other half.

The Lord uses the word 'recline' in today's message. Recline does not mean just to sit. Many of us may sit or physically rest but yet be anxious for our eyes will still be on the work. When we recline our eyes do not look at the farm, or the flock, or the work we have done but our eyes turn up towards Him.

We need to understand when to work and when to stop and just keep looking at Him. When we learn this then we will not be tired doing His work, or struggle to get results for the efforts we put. When we learn to stop using our head and using our strength even when things may seem to be turning into a commotion, soon there will be a time when great results will sprout out from these so called commotions. These results will be expected and unimagined.

Let us, those who work in the Lord also learn to recline in Him.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, even though we work in your farm among your flock, it is You Who gives us the strength and all the resources to do the work. Lord we pray that we use less of ourselves and be just instruments for You to do your work through us. Teaching us Lord to recline in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]
Isaiah 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

Psalms 37:7-11
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
