The servant of the Lord must not strive

2 Timothy 2:23-26 - But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Previously I had the habit to get into debate (argument) with everybody on each and every thing concerning the Bible, trying to prove myself more than trying to prove the Word. As maturity came with walking in Spirit I stop getting into deep argument; though I have not completely changed but improved.

Today's scripture I may have read it before, but it never hit me like it did today. Lately out of experience I have learnt not to get into discussion with people who do not know the ABCD of the Bible, or the Truth, or the topic. Like Paul says this does not help the person but only bring strive. Therefore a true teacher is the one who is gentle, knowing what to teach and when; teaching with the purpose to lift (prosper) the other person.

Like we learnt in our previous message (a few days back), serving the Lord meant running errands for the Lord. Every task is not a challenge to us for we are dong God's work. We are like the postman, just delivering.

People opposing the Truth are not opposing us but themselves. The most interesting fact I found in my little experience that deep within they know what you are speaking is true but they just can not face it. And this is all because they do not want to change. It is in the hardness of their hearts that they oppose the Truth. Due to the hardness of their heart they become an instrument in the hands of the evil one to cause strife.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Father God, give wisdom to your servants. Especially during these days, when there is an overflow of your knowledge and your understanding flowing unto your people. Hearts do not want to change, so out of its hardness they oppose. They are not opposing You or me but themselves. Satan does not want to loose his hold on them. Lord we pray for your mercy on these people You have give unto us, that they repent and turn unto You...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
