Above all charity

Colossians 3:14 - above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

If you look at the underlining factor why God created us and set forth the history of man, there is only one factor - prosperity of man. This prosperity has nothing to do with material prosperity instead it is all about spiritual prosperity. It includes eternal life, heavenly treasures like spiritual gifts which make us almost like little gods. These are too much to give to anyone who is not perfect therefore God has put us through this training and filtering episode so that we are made perfect to receive these very precious things.

If you see the purpose of Jesus Christ is also to make man worthy to receive all the spiritual treasure set forth for us in Heaven. By his sacrifice He cleansed us and by his Spirit He leads us to Heaven, that we may receive this inheritance from God.

We as Christians need to imitate Christ and all things that we do should have only one purpose - spiritual prosperity of the other. All things that we do in the physical if they do not help the spirit then they are just a waste. The process may be directly or indirect that does not matter but what matters is, they have to help the person grow (come closer to God); a change in that person or in others by our actions is necessary else all our efforts are a waste.

This will also bring us to the realization that we are not the persons to lead anyone from the start to the finish line (for we ourselves are not at the finish line). We all are at varying stages and all that we do is carry or push one another to a stage and let another help that person further. For this reason we have different callings in the Church. They all put together help a person grow in all areas to become more like Christ.

See the example with Jesus. He trained the Apostles to a stage and then handed them over to the Holy Spirit to do His work in them and with them.

With us also (together) there should be one purpose; to bring the other person to a stage wherein the Holy Spirit takes over and finishes His job in that person. Thus true charity (love) requires patient, focused, unselfish, fruitful and diligent work.

Just imagine if we take a few people who are moving and at the same time helping each other to go ahead and someone pushing all of them together; think how fast they all will reach to the top!

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, we thank You for finding us worthy for the great things You have set forth for us in Heaven. They are beyond the imagination of man. Lord, we also thank You for make us worthy by your sacrifice and Spirit to receive. Work in us as we work in others so that we glorify Christ in us, who has shown us the way...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]
John 10:34-38
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Psalms 37:18
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

Ezekiel 44:27-28
27 And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, saith the Lord GOD.
28 And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
