Being in the womb of God

Psalms 69:16 - Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

Today's message comes from a Psalm of David. David is known to be a person who had great relationship with the Lord. He knew the feelings of God for man.

There is something very interesting I learnt today from today's message.

When one looks at today's message it seems normal, nothing new or great, for all know the loving kindness of God and the mercy of God. But when we get into the Hebrew words we come to know the depth of God's loving-kindness and His mercy.

The Psalmist speaks about the act of showing kindness or goodness of God being good but later he asks God for the abundance of His tender mercies. Here the word used a tender mercies is the same word which is also translated as womb or bosom.

To understand the relationship of God with us we need to understand the relationship of a mother with its baby that is yet in its womb. As a man I may not do justice to this, but as a father I am able to shed some light to it.

The day a woman knows she is pregnant with a child she stops living for herself and starts to live for the child. All that she likes or dislike are secondary but what is good for the child becomes primary. She changes her every routine of the day. Her getting up, to going to sleep is centred on the child. What she eats or drinks depends on the child. Her walking, her getting up, sitting down is all slowed down for the reason of the child. She gets morning sickness, pain in her back and her legs but she bears it with a smile for the sake of the child. Ever small move of the child brings a smile to her face. She knows she has to suffer pain at the end of 9 months but that does not cause her to give up because she waits the day she will see the face of the child. The joy that comes from her holding her just born child in her arms is much greater than all the pain and suffering and sacrifices that she has to take through the 9 months.

We the children of God are like a foetus in the womb of God. Like a mother He bears all for our sake. His sacrifice is great but the joy He will have the day we transform into Sons of God is like the joy of a mother when she sees her just born child. Every small thing we do pleases Him. Like a mother forgets all the suffering and pain and just holds the infant in her arms and gives a kiss to its forehead, so also He will and the day we enter Heaven we will receive something unimaginable.

When we understand the relationship of a pregnant mother with the child within her womb we will understand God's relationship with us.

An unborn child does not need to open her mouth to communicate with its mother so also even our thoughts are known to God and He says He will give us the desires of our hearts. A mother knows what is good for her child and everything that is good she provides, so also does God who is our Father (the Greek word also means Provider and Creator).

[ Prayer Starter ]
Father God, no man will be able to understand all that You have done for us. What we see or know is just a fraction of all that is hidden from us. You never desired man to know how much You suffered for us, You just wanted us to know that You have done what was due to us. Lord, we do not realize your love and concern for us, yet most times we think You do not care for us. Lord, help us to remember that You carry us and without You we would not exist for a second. Help us to surrender to You and your abundance grace...

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
