Rule life - know, perceive, receive and give

Proverbs 1:1, 2, 3 - The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

The Hebrew word 'mashal' is translated here as 'proverb' but this word also has another meaning, it means 'to rule'.

When we read the first 3 lines of this book it says it is given to us to rule or have authority or have control on a few this and these are.

1) To know wisdom and instruction.
2) To perceive the words of understanding.
3) To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgement and equity.
4) To give to the simple, young man (immature but passionate and energetic) knowledge and discretion.

If we divide the whole thing it is in 4 parts -

1) Know
2) Perceive
3) Receive
4) Give

The Word of God or knowledge of the Kingdom of God should be approached in this fashion. We need to know what it is, then we need to understand it (perceive), receive it and then share this understanding with others. This process allows us to have a rule over life, in other words be rulers over our lives, for God has given us dominion over this world and life on this world that is why He calls us Israel which means Prince of God - one who has authority in God.

People do not follow these steps in its order, or do not complete all the steps, therefore struggle in life.

Firstly people do not know what is the purpose or power of the Word of God therefore do not understand it. Since they do not understand it they do not receive it fully. They receive worldly knowledge, mostly knowledge of the Kingdom of God mixed with worldly knowledge. Thus what they give is also a corrupt understanding of the Kingdom of God and then the people they build do not have discernment. Now these people who are not build well they start on a wrong foot and without discernment they pick-up more garbage on the way and thus they too join this viscous cycle that suffocates life. The very thing that was meant to have rule over life since not taken properly lands up doing the opposite - suffocates it.

Let us firstly know the purpose and power of the Word of God, this itself is not clear to most Christians. When I say 'most' it sadly means almost all. We firstly start on the wrong foot then those who start on the right foot do not complete the whole process, thus all of us struggle in life.

Let us show the world that Christianity is not a way of life or about living a good life but something about being king over life in this world for Christianity is based or founded over the Word of God.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, when You gave the Word it had only one purpose and that was to overcome darkness. Lord we pray your people know the power of your Word that it gives life, life in abundance and it overcomes darkness, for it overcomes sin and death. Lord Jesus, You demonstrated to us the power of the Word by your death and resurrection. You proved to us You overcame and now we too can overcome...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
