Fountain, Spring or Well

Psalm 36:9 - For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

In this scripture the word fountain is the Hebrew word 'maqowr' which is sometimes translated as 'fountain', sometimes as 'spring' and sometimes as 'well', now for this scripture which is right?

I would say all 3.

We need to first get to the common part of all 3 and that is, they are all water coming from a large resource which is available below but is not visible.

A fountain is that water coming out of a crack due to high speed due to immerse pressure; a spring is that water sprouting out a crack due to less pressure and a well is when the same water available only when one pulls via a bucket.

I would love a fountain or least a spring but not a well. Being a fountain or a spring is our choice, for the pressure is our desire and the gap through which it comes out is we breaking ourselves for that water of life.

The Cross (purpose) of Christ is life for us and it is by the Cross we have life. Unless we really do not desire to live for the purpose of Christ and break ourselves for that purpose, we will not have a fountain or spring of life in us.

When Jesus broke bread which represented his Body and asked us to do the same, it was not just the symbolism which we need to do when we break bread, but also the real part which Jesus did by his own life as an example.

It does not mean we need to get scourged, pierced and crucified. Those who do this mock the sacrifice of Christ. Jesus was not just man but God who came as man. His sacrifice was not those few days or hours before He died on the crucifix but the Bible says that the sacrifice of Christ began from the foundation of creation. Even before you and I were created God knew that He would have to humble Himself and coming as man die for us and save us. God who is omnipotent, omnipresent, almighty and timeless had to limit Himself into someone He created. Thus his sacrifice cannot be comprehended or even imagined. Even today He still is sacrificing His glory for us await mankind receiving what He has made available.

Our sacrifice means putting our own desires and wants at second priority and putting those which Christ wants and desires as first.

Let us who are part of His Body have the same desire which He has and live our lives working for the same purpose, if we need to experience a fountain of life in us.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord Jesus, your sacrifice is beyond comprehension. Will man ever know the sacrifice You made for us?

Lord, You do not expect much from us but that small crack so that the water of life can flow out into our lives. Lord, help us grow our thirst for You who are Light for us and way out of our darkness, so that we experience a fountain in us...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.
