A generation whose teeth swords and their jaw knives

Proverbs 30:14 - There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

This scripture had me thinking for 2 days before I could get to the root of its message. I was stuck with the comparison between 'teeth as swords' and 'jaw teeth as knives'. The message says they both devour the poor [weak / afflicted - points to spiritually poor] and the naturally poor of the world.

The Lord is telling us those who are spiritually weak are like those who are naturally poor, the spiritually weak struggle daily like the naturally poor. Even if the spiritually poor are financially rich, yet we will find them struggling the same way as the naturally poor. The only thing that gets a person out from the struggle is maturity in the Spirit.

The interesting thing I learned from this message was the two types of people that consume the poor (both spiritually and naturally).

The second type 'jaw teeth as knives' - here the word knives refers a sharp object used to consume or eat. This type talks of greedy people.

The first type 'whose teeth are as swords' - here the word teeth does not refer to natural teeth but refers to the grinding of teeth and in the Bible this word is used in two places when a person is in great anger or in great depression.

The Lord is telling us people who are great wrath, in great depression and those who have greed in them these people are the ones who consume the spiritually weak and the naturally poor.

We do not realize being sad is as dangerous as being angry. If we do not have control of them both along with our desire to have things, we can become into animals that destroys people around us.

Let us not be people who are blindly led by desires, but let us discern our desires and the purpose of our desires. Being angry, sad of desiring things is not wrong but when we have no control over them then they can make us from humans into dangerous cannibal animals.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, we pray we do not be like animals which live by their desires. Lord, even though You put us in the flesh, You have made us in your image and gave us wisdom to discern. You desire that we overcome the flesh and thus defeat sin and death. Lord, we pray we have control over our desires especially our anger, sadness and greed...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
16 And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.
