Unfolding of the Word

Psalms 119:130 - The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Of all the people who try to understand the Word of God, there are many who do not really know anything of the Word. They do not understand and therefore lack faith. The reason of they not really understanding, is because they consider themselves intelligent people. They become historians reading the Word. The Bible becomes a book of dead things; a book of past not having anything to do with the present or a book that can change one’s future. These people therefore become religious people – people of traditions having no relationship with God. They themselves suffer and lead others too to their pit.

If one needs to understand the Word they need to do what Jesus said in Mark 10:15, be simple people, like a child not knowing much. Only when a person surrenders one's self to the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of Truth, will one understand the Word.

The first time I really sat to read the Bible, I use to wonders how this book of past can change a person? What relation does it have with me now? And how can it change my future? Half way through, only when I surrendered myself and the Lord - Holy Spirit started to teach me, did I know how every word is a living Word.

Be a child, throw out all your worldly understanding and all your degrees and sit like a simple person to let the Lord open your mind to the Word.

Lord, your Word is life. Like Manna from Heaven it nourishes me and builds my spirit. Help me Lord that I surrender myself, putting away all my knowledge and understanding, to sit with You and study your Word. I make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.
