Spiritual Memory

Your spiritual memory is vital to your spiritual health. Do you remember what God wants you to remember? Are you grateful for what He remembers? "Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth.... He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded, for a thousand generations" (Psalm 105:5,8).

We should remember God's words, His wonders and His works, but we often forget. How easy it was for the Israelites to forget what God had done for them. Each year they celebrated the Passover, and one reason for that celebration was to remind them that God had delivered them out of slavery in Egypt. Some things we ought to forget, such as "those things which are behind" (Phil. 3:13). But the psalmist tells us to "remember His marvelous works" (Psalm 105:5). Are you remembering God's blessings? The next time you are tempted to criticize or get angry with God, just remember His marvelous works.

God also remembers: "He has remembered His covenant forever" (Psalm 105:8). He deals with us on the basis of His covenant promises, and He has sealed that covenant with the blood of His Son.

Finally, don't forget that His promises never fail. Not one word of all of God's promises has failed. Even when we forget, He remembers. Even when we neglect God's Word, He remembers it. God keeps His promises. He is always faithful to His promise.

[ Prayer for the Day ]

Lord, we are sorry for many a times we have come to You complaining about small things. We have forgotten all the great things You have done us. We were not worthy to receive Salvation, but since You promised us, You kept your Word and have made it possible through the sacrifice of your Son Jesus. Help us Lord to keep our eyes on your Kingdom and not on the things of this world. For the things of this world will be automatically be given to us as we dwell in your Kingdom and this has been promised by You. You are always true to your promise. I ask this prayer in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]

Psalm 105:5-15
  5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
  6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.
  7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
  8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
  9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
  10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
  11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:
  12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.
  13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;
  14 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
  15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

Philippians 3:12,13,15
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
