The Two Birds

Acts 3:14 - But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

One may wonder why I took a title of two birds with the scripture which was given to us as today's message and what relationship it has with it.

If one reads verses 12 to 18 of this chapter Peter was talking about the people selecting Barabbas to be freed instead of Jesus even though Jesus was innocent with no accusation being proved against Him other than He calling Himself Son of God and King. On the other hand Barabbas was well known for rebelling against the authorities and also of robbing people on the highways. Peter puts Jesus as the Holy One, the Just and as the Prince of Peace. But towards the end Peter says this was just fulfilment of that which was already declared by the mouths of all His prophets. Peter talks of not just one but many Prophets.

The people did injustice towards Jesus due to their ignorance to who Jesus was, but also did to fulfil prophecies. They did not only fulfilling prophecies but were also party to the performing of the sacrifice which the Lord initiated for the healing of man. If it was not for this event Peter would not have written in his letter 'by His wounds we are healed'.

The name Barabbas means 'son of a father' and Jesus was Son of the Father. One Son was sacrificed so that the other son could be set free from sickness. When sin came into man this sin started manifesting in the next generations. Both the sons of Cain and of Seth were named Enoch. The name means 'mortal', meaning lack of life on the other hand Adam means reddish meaning full of life. One of the two Enoch realised and walked with God and the other did not.

Most of the passion of Christ is learned more from the Old Testament than the New Testament. Everything pertaining to Jesus' crucifixion is also not recorded in the Bible just for the reason that the sacrifice was more for God than for man. But everything that was need for us to know that all that was needed for the salvation of mankind right from saving, healing and prospering him was completed, is recorded in the Bible.

Let us not be ignorant now that we are called to be children of Light. Now that we have come to know Jesus Christ and have received the promise of the Holy Spirit let us stop walking in darkness and come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, be blessed in Him and have authority in His Name.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You became our sacrifice not only for our sins but everything needed for us being whole. You became not only our Lamb but whole in whole everything we needed as spoken through Moses. Lord, open the minds of your people that they may know your sacrifice and be blessed...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]
Acts 3:12-18
12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
17 And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

Matthew 27:16-26

Leviticus 14:3-7
3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper;
4 Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:
5 And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water:
6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:
7 And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.

1 Peter 2:24 - Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
