Heritage of Jacob

Isaiah 58:14 - Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

In the Bible leaving for the one scripture where God starts to call Jacob Israel, there are 81 scriptures in which the Lord uses both the terms Israel and Jacob in the same sentence for the person Jacob or his descendants. When we see the same with Abraham who was previously called Abram, we see not even one scripture where he is again referred to with his old name, the same with Paul who was previously called Saul.

The name 'Israel' was less a name and more a promise to the descendants of Jacob and this promise can be understood by the vision Jacob had in the place called Bethel which means 'House of God'. In His vision Jacob saw a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reaching Heaven. He saw angels of God ascending and descending on it. In this dream the Lord promised him the land where he rested unto his generation which would be numerous like dust. The Lord also promised him protection wherever he (his generation included) goes and will bring him (his generation included) back to the Promised Land.

This dream is one of the most important Covenants the Lord made with before Jesus Christ. We need to understand when man sinned Heaven was make inaccessible to man in other words the door of Heaven was shut to man. The Lord promised Jacob (the unredeemed man) that the door of Heaven would be made open to Israel (redeemed man - Sons of God - the Bible calls the Angels Sons of God).

Jesus said He is The Way, He is The Door and it is only by The Way / The Door that we can enter Heaven. Although Jesus is The Way / The Door that allows us to enter Heaven yet we cannot enter because we still need to go by The Way / enter through The Door and for this Jesus gave us His Spirit our Helper. It is the Helper - The Holy Spirit - The Spirit of Truth Who reveals Jesus to us and enables us to go on The Way and thus enables us to enter Heaven. That is why in John the first thing about Jesus is written that those who receive Him to them He give Power to become Sons of God. The Power which makes them Sons of God is the Holy Spirit. It is the same Power which worked in Jesus and thus enabled Him to resurrect. People wrongly think that the Power worked in Hell after Jesus died, they are mistaken. The Power worked in Jesus when He was alive it was by the Power He was without blemish. Jesus was 100percent man and as weak as we are by it was only by the working of the Holy Spirit He overcame sin and the world.

We all are not born sinless therefore the Lord made a way by our baptism in Jesus Christ and forgiveness of sins we are born again, all sins forgiven. Then by our surrender to the Holy Spirit we too come to the position which Jesus was in, all we need to do surrender to the Holy Spirit and be led by Him like Jesus was and we too can become overcomers like Him and thus Sons of God.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, when You made man dead was not a part of man, but by man choosing to disobey You, man sinned and thus caused death to come into his life. Lord, we pray that we get access to the Tree of Life and thus finish death once for all. We know to finish death we need to first finish sin and therefore You gave us your Holy Spirit by the price paid through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit we surrender to You and ask You to work in us and make us like Jesus a Son of God...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]
Genesis 28:10-22
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted on a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: the land where on you lie, to you will I give it, and to your seed;
14 And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with you, and will keep you in all places where you go, and will bring you again into this land; for I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken to you of.
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:
22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that you shall give me I will surely give the tenth to you.

John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 8:14 - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Philippians 2:14-16
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Romans 8:19 - For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
