Take heed on how you hear

Luke 8: 18 - Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he thinketh he hath.

Today's message if really understood will make everyone scrutinize themselves, this is the reason Jesus cautioned again but saying 'take heed therefore how ye hear'.

The word translated as 'hear' is also translated as 'hearken' (6) and 'give audience' (3). Over here it means more in sense of 'abiding by' or 'listen' or 'mentally receive' because the word translated as 'hath', is more of in the sense of wearing or to have (hold) possession of the mind.

The Lord is cautioning us of the understanding which we hold, if we have the proper understanding of the Kingdom of God then more will be given unto us and those who think they have the understand will be made more confused.

The Word of God is one word and all things relate or connect to each other. If what we hold contradicts any scripture we need to get rid of it immediately or scrutinize it immediately. Things which we do not understand needs to be verified with scriptures and the way the Bible is written all things will have at least two verifications. Every scripture can be understood in many ways and there is no only one way to understand a scripture because they are designed to speak to the hearts of man according to their situation. But every understanding will interconnect to the other understands of the same scripture and will not contradict it.

The Ephesians were praised by Paul as being most mature because they did not take any word of Paul at face value but verified every word with the scriptures. Even though Paul was in the forefront of all the other leaders of the Church yet his words were subjected to scrutiny with the Word of God.

Today do we scrutinize what we hear from famous leaders with the Word of God or do we take them for granted because we see gifts operating in them?

Understand all of us have limited understand of the Word but it important that we make sure this limited is in the right direction.

It is time to questions all the understandings we hold and see if they fall in line with each other, if not, then at least one of them needs to be put in the dustbin.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, forgive us for the time we have lifted man's word more than your Word. Lord as spoken by You expose all that is in us which is not of your Kingdom so that by your Word and your Spirit we bring it to correction...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scripture ]
Luke 1:1-4
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

Luke 8:16-17
16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

Luke 24:44-45
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

1 Corinthians 1:19-20
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Colossians 1:9-17
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
