Breaking idols

Exodus 23:24-25
24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.
25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Yesterday I had to take a very hard decision in my life, someone who was a blessing to me since long time I had to cut out from. When I was just new in the Lord this person was of great help and encouragement to me. Since long the Lord was been warning this person directly and through me and proved it also. Yet the person who has been doing work for the Lord did not realize that He was not building people in the Lord but making them feel good. I had to do this for his own good so that he may change his ways, open his eyes and reap his harvest.

The Word of God is not a fairytale or a Wilson Boons (I hope wrote the name right) it is an Instruction book of our salvation with lots of mercy, grace, love and blessings, but only to those who believe. It can also become a hurdle and disaster to those who reject it.

The problem with him was that he was making people idols all along and I had been instrument to break many of them. First they were people (working for the Lord) in his life then it was people from the Bible. Even people from the Bible should not be our idol leaving for one Jesus Christ who was and is perfect. Each and everyone starting from Noah to Paul and other Apostles too had weakness. When we are a baby there is no problem following them, but as we grow we should only follow one; He who is perfect.

Although Jesus tells us to be like Him yet He Himself tells us to follow the Helper - the Holy Spirit who helped Him to be perfect.

So let us remove all idols from our lives and follow the Lord breaking all idols so that we are blessed in all things.

[ Prayer Starter ]

Father God, You gave us Jesus whom we can look at and be like. It was your Spirit that made Him and kept Him a perfect human. By Jesus' sacrifice I have received your Spirit, who now works in me and makes me like your Son Jesus. I thank You for this gift and ask You to help me surrender to You like a pot clay to its potter. I ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Luke 2:34
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of
many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Luke 2:40
40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

John 14:25-26
25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.
26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 16:5-15
5 "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, `Where are You going?'
6 "But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
8 "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 "of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
10 "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
11 "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
15 "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
