Join the Army

Numbers 1:30 - Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

The Communist countries and even the State of Israel have this rule, that every person or at least one person of the family needs to join the army after a certain age. These countries have this rule because they consider themselves always at war threatened by other countries. If there was total peace then even these countries would do away with just a rule.

We live in the Kingdom of God which is always at war, always attacked by this world and forces controlling the hearts of the people of this world. It was due to this that the Lord made this rule of dedicating oneself after a certain age.

In the Old Testament it was joining the Israelite army at the age of twenty, which was later increased to thirty at request. It was this reason Jesus also started fully dedicated Himself to the work of the Kingdom of God after the age of thirty.

The Old Testament being the shadow, we too need to join the army after a certain age but this army is not any earthly army but the army of the Kingdom of God. This army on earth is led by the Rider on a white horse, Who's name is WORD OF GOD.

Since the 15th Century we see the Rider on the white horse moving on earth increasing His army over the ages. It was in the 15th Century due to circumstances created in Turkey the monks who had the manuscripts (the original text of the Bible) were forced to translate the scriptures and give unto common man so has to kept the scriptures alive since they had had to abundant they safe monastery. We even see true evangelizing of the Kingdom of God started around this period.

Today this army has grown leaps and bounds but yet is on the lookout for more and more to join it since it is threatened more by the enemy.

It was not that Jesus did miracles and taught people only after the age of thirty, He already had disciples or following of people even before the miracle of water to wine (grape juice) at the wedding at Cana. It was only when He had completed His commitment towards his large family in which He was born (since Joseph was not alive Jesus as the eldest needed to support this family); He dedicated Himself to God's work.

We too are required to dedicate ourselves to this army of the Kingdom of God once we complete our duty towards our earthly family. We may be doing God's work even today, but yet it is all together another matter wherein which we dedicate ourselves totally to God's Army.

Today, I do my two bits of work in the Kingdom of God and also am a vessel for the Lord to provide for my family, but am aware of that one day in the future I will be totally dedicated to this Army doing the work for the Kingdom of God, once I am finished with my duty towards my family.

The joining age of twenty or thirty is not our physical age but our spiritual age, age of maturity. Are we spiritually mature and done with our earthly duties, then the Army of God is waiting for us.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, You created this world with a purpose, not just to exist and become vanity. Your plans are good and for the goodness of mankind. Reveal to your people your purpose so that they too will walk in your ways and not struggle in this world. Use us O Lord for your Kingdom and for your glory...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.
