Want to serve Jesus? Forget your own self

John 12:26 - If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

In the last two days mail I have been emphasizing on how to understand the background of the scriptures by getting into the grammar (TVM in Greek) which gives the rendering of the verb.

Today's scripture emphasizes the connection of the TVM with our mind / heart, body and spirit.

In the scripture the verbs 'am' in 'where I am' and 'be' in 'there also my servant shall be' have an unusual TVM - Present, Not Stated, Indicative.

Present: The present tense represents a simple statement of fact or reality.

Not Stated: In a number of places certain verbs are cited in Perschbacher's "The New Analytical Greek Lexicon" which do not have any tense or voice directly stated.

Indicative: The indicative mood is a simple statement of fact.

So it means that if we need to be with Lord Jesus Christ, then when serving Him in the heart / mind and in Spirit we need to be connected with Him. For this we need to be out of body, which means in body we need to forget our own selves.

So let us not look at our physical body, its needs and its limitations and thus forgetting it, let's serve the Lord Jesus Christ in one mind and one spirit so that we are honored by the Father.

[ Prayer Starter ]

Father God I want to be honored by You. Help me by your Spirit to forget by own self and being one in mind and spirit with Christ serve Him. Let me not be concern about what is possible and difficult in this flesh of mine but being one with Christ tap into the power of Christ. This I ask in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
