Are we Christians like Asa?

2 Chronicles 15:17 - But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

In the Bible - Old Testament we read the many pagan gods that the Israelites worshiped yet we find Stephen in his wisdom accused them of only 2 - Moloch and Remphan. I went through great depth studying scriptures and right from the start to the end of the Bible, although there are many pagan gods or false deities yet we see there are 2 who are very prominent. They come in different forms through different cultures and eras. Even though their names may be different yet though study of them we find them fitting the same template.

Even today scan through other religions and it is the same story. Let it be Islam, Catholicism, Hinduism or even African Voodoo they all have one or both of these characters.

Revelation states them as the dragon and the beast, Moses puts them as the serpent and the young lion (Psalms 91) but in his symbolic journey across the desert it is King Sihon and King Og whom they overcame before crossing the river Jordan to enter the Promised Land.

Like the word Elohim is plural yet shows oneness similarly the word devil in the Bible is plural showing their oneness in their quest to vanity.

King Asa removed his mother from her authority as Queen for she made a groove (word used for an altar, tree or grotto where an idol was placed). But since he did not discern all things he made a mistake of ignoring the evil that was happening of people worshiping God in unholy ways. Yet we see the Lord says 'nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days'.

Today Christians will be worshiping the Lord in high places the same way as the Jews were worshiping Jehovah in an unholy manner in the high places. Yet the Lord is looking at the hearts and understands. But then this would not continue forever.

It took me nearly 3 years to get this deceit understood and now I have no excuse to say I did not know so I cannot be like Asa ignorant. So till the time I was ignorant I was excused but now I am not. But then ignorance is not bliss we need to grow in our understanding and discernment.

The Lord says to love Him with all our hearts, with all our soul, all our strength and all our understanding (mind).

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You are a merciful God. Even though man got corrupted with lies and vanity, yet You desire to save him. As You are working on cleansing man from this corruption You are patient with man. It is only by our knowledge of You and who we are in You that will save us. Lord, we thank You for your mercy and patience...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
