We are our own enemies

Jeremiah 25:7 - Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

Have you seen situations where a parent of a child punishing the child because the child was playing with fire or a knife or something that was a cause of danger to its own life, that is the story of God His people in the Bible and in life today.

We sometimes cry out to God why are we punished and today's message tells us that we are our own enemies. The works of our hands and our sins harm us and to prevent us from doing harm to ourselves God needs to intervene and punish us.

It is very good that God is not like human parents, He is slow to anger. But we people are so stubborn that we really test the patience of God and when He reacts we get down on our knees and cry Lord Why!!!

Even our prayers, our praise and worship needs to more of sweeter than just lots. God would prefer we give a dedicated, from the heart, with wholeness, shorter but good praise and worship than a whole day of half hearted, distracted, faithless prayer, praise and worship.

Today Lord is telling us to see the fruits of the things we are doing and to judge our works. Even if our fruits may be small and few but they need to be good. God does not appreciate large quantity of tasteless or sour fruits. He does not mind few and small but they need to be a sweet savour offering to Him.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, people are trying to make a great name for themselves by doing your work, but they land up making disciples for themselves and not for You. Later they perish and so does the work of their hands. Lord You ask for an offering that needs to be a sweet offering, even though it may be small but it need to be sweet. Lord help us concentrate more on quality then quantity...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Exodus 30:7-10
7 And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.
8 And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.
9 Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.
10 And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.
