The kinds of people who are in Church

Mark 2:1-6
1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

In today's message we read about the great miracle of the paralytic man. What is the highlight of this incident is not the healing of the paralytic man but the faith of those who bought him there.

When Jesus had visited a house in Capernaum the people around got to know of this and many gathered in that house, so much so that there was no way to push into the door. In this gathering there were many kinds of people, some came to hear Jesus, some came to receive and some came to just scrutinize Him.

From the people who came to receive were the four who could not get in, thus had to break through the roof, but among those who had got in the house were those who did not to receive, nor to listen to Jesus but came to see and hear what was happening and to report it and among these were the scribes.

In our Churches also it is the same situation, there many types of people who are gathered every Sunday. Some come to hear the Word and receive; some come to pay their homage to the hall, some to meet their friends every week, some to show how religious they are by taking the first row seats, etc. Like during the time of the incident in our message there are many people who are not 'Christians' but have tremendous faith in them and soon we will find these people breaking through the roof and putting us 'Christians' to shame.

So let us build our faith in Christ and understand why we are Christians and what the purpose of our faith is.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, we ask You to work among those who are namesake Christians. We also ask You to expose those who called themselves Christians but have another agenda, get them out from amongst our midst and build our faith like the four who led down the paralytic...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
