Why are you giving your life for your clothes?

John 12:25,26 - He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

There are three aspects to a human (God's image in us) which are Mind (sometimes referred to as soul or heart), Body (physical body) and Spirit (heavenly form like what the Angels are). Out of these our physical body is the least, before that our mind and first our spirit.

When God made us we were made with spirit and soul and bought into this world with a physical body (made of dust) which we leave behind here when we die (back to dust). Therefore this physical body is like the clothes we wear. Our mind and spirit also has a form according to growth like our body changes according to age.

When we concentrate on the body; our mind and spirit is ignored and its growth is shunned. The word 'hateth' does not mean to really hate but to love the least. Putting it right behind in the order Spirit, Mind and Body.

When we refer to 'life' we normally think in sense of body, but in reality life is connected to our spirit and our body is like the clothes it wears. When this understanding gets into us we will be like those people who did anything and everything for Christ willing to pay a heavy price physically.

So do not love your clothes but the real you - your spirit and soul and thus hold on to Christ who is your savior (saving our real lives).

[ Prayer Starter ]

Father God, I thank You for creating me so beautiful. Because of our lack of understanding we have been living only for our clothes. Help us Lord that the truth gets into us and we get our priorities right, thus follow Christ and be victorious with Him. I ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]

Psalms 104:28-29
28 That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

Matthew 22:29-32
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
