Your Treasure

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Matthew 6:21

"Where your treasure is, there is your heart also." This means that whatever you treasure, that's what possesses your heart. What do I treasure this morning? It's a question that we must ask ourselves daily. It's so important to know what has our heart. Because your heart is something that God wants... and He wants all of it. His first Commandment is "Love the Lord your God with all your heart..." Mark 12:30. If something else besides Him has it, then He doesn't have all of it.

Ask yourself this morning... Is God or the Kingdom of God the "treasure" of your heart? What are your riches? Is your family? Is it some valued possession? There are so many things that want to captivate our hearts... and if we aren't careful it is easy to loose your heart to someone or something other than God. Be on guard. Make sure that nothing else captivates it. Do what Proverbs tells us to do, "Keep thy heart with all diligence..." (Pr. 4:23) Be careful about what you treasure.

Ask yourself 'Is the Kingdom of God the treasure of my heart'?

[ Prayer for the Day ]

Dear Lord, I am sorry that I have not loved You with all my heart, with all my mind and all my strength. This world and things of this world which You have blessed me with, have taken a priority over You. Forgive me and help me to come closer to You so that I may build a close relation with You all my life. I ask this prayer in the Name of Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen

[ Reference Scriptures ]

Mark 12:28-31
   28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
   29 "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Proverbs 4:20-23
20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
   listen closely to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
   keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
   and health to a man's whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
   for it is the wellspring of life.
