Thirsting for the Lord

Psalms 63:1 - O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

There are scriptures in the Bible (John 4:10,13) where Lord Jesus Christ says that He is the Living water and anyone whosoever drinks from this water shall never thirst. And then, there are scriptures which show that more and more a person came closer to the Lord like here in Psalms 63:1 - David got more and more thirstier for the Lord. Both these scriptures are true. If you do not have a thirst for the Lord you will never be able to come closer to Him. There are two things that will keep you and draw you closer to the Lord: one is a fire in you belly and second is thirst for the Lord. This fire is the power of God working in you, keeping you active and charged to do God's work. The second which is the thirst for the Lord is to come closer to Him and build a better relationship with Him.

The Living water which Jesus spoke about is the water that quenches all the thirst for every other thing in this world but not the thirst for the Lord. In fact the more you drink of it, the more will you want! That water is the Word of God which when understood overcomes and satisfies all the worldly requirements and problems. But when this Word gets into you it also builds a thirst in you to know more and more of it like an addict. So let's become an addict of the Word of God longing to know more and more of It and let's pray for the fire in our belly which will never diminish but burn more and more.

Let's close our eyes and prayer from the depths of our hearts crying out loud, making this fire and thirst to grow. Let us also build this fire and thirst by look out for opportunities to do God's work and to study His Word.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, I love You and You are all I need in my life. I cry out to You Lord to bring me closer to You and hold me in your strong arms to love me. Lord I thirst to know your living Word which is life for me. Let this living Word burst into many springs in my heart and overwhelm that it overflows unto others around me. I ask this prayer in the mighty Name of Jesus, Amen.

[ Reference Scripture ]

John 4:10,13
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
