Have not just Good Soil

Mark 4:8 - And others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing; and brought forth, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.

We must have heard this parable of Jesus hundreds of times and we mostly concentrate on the difference in soil quality.

If you are into farming or growing plants having a good soil is primary to plantation but things do not end there. In the parable Jesus says 'and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing', this He says yield forth a great harvest which was multifold.

To 'yield fruit, grow up and increase' requires one to have day to day commitment. Just putting seed into good soil will not give you a full grown fruit bearing tree. Day to day nourishment (watering), protection (from diseases / corruption) and from beast of the field / birds of the air is required especially when the plant is young. Once the plant becomes a tree the caretaker can relax.

Who is/are the care taker/s?

The persons sent by the Lord into our live to bless us are caretakers, but they alone are not fully responsible. In the start they may have greater responsibility but soon the weight falls more on us who also are caretakers to see the growing of fruitful plant in us which is our inner man.

We need to ask ourselves do we play our part of monitoring, giving spiritual food and strengthening our inner man. Do we realize the infections, corruptions and trampling our inner-man goes through every day in this world? What are we doing about this?

Have a repent full heart and surrendering heart to the Lord is good. But also have wisdom to make sure to feed, nourish and protect the seed that has now died and become into a plant. Make sure the plant yields fruits and spreads to give comfort unto others and spread the seeds so that other good soil too yield and be fruitful.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord Jesus, ever since we have come to know You and have accepted You as Lord and Master into our lives we have become from seed to plant. Lord, we want not to be just a plant but like You instructed we want to yield fruit, grow strong, spread comforting others and being instruments to growth of other fruit bearing plants...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scripture ]
Mark 4:14-20
14 The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them.
16 And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy;
17 and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble.
18 And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word,
19 and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20 And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.

Matthew 7:17-20
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

John 15:1-8
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
