The Big Boss

John 12:26 - If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will (my) Father honour.

It is a great irony that even today we see among Christian congregations, people trying all the tricks in the book to be boss. Everyone wants to boss the others and to pull down the one bossing him or her.

On the contrary Christianity is the opposite it is not about being a boss, but being a servant. Lord Jesus Christ who is our Savior is called the Head, the BRANCH and even King but yet we see in His actions nothings of being a boss, in fact we see the opposite, we see Him living a servant's life. Born to a human mother He took charge of responsibilities of the family He was born into and as per the Law of Moses (as a Levi) served the needs of the family until the age of 30 and then dedicated Himself to God's ministry. After that He started serving all mankind and especially those 12 He was personally given to nurture.

In Christ we have callings and a hierarchy among the callings. This hierarchy is not about who is the boss of who, in fact it is about who is the servant of who. The hierarchy is all about responsibility; who is responsible of whom. The person on the top is responsible for all those below and therefore has to work for those below him.

Jesus Christ being the Head, as man was the greatest servant. Christianity is all about serving, serving not anybody or everybody, but serving the Body of Christ - His people. Jesus' main cause is the salvation of His people and therefore the purpose of this body is about salvation. We need to keep focus on only one thing and one thing alone - how to help the other to receive his or her salvation.

Jesus Christ by His sacrifice made salvation possible to man. His Spirit does the job of helping us achieve it, thus the whole body needs to work under the Holy Spirit, He alone is the boss - the Big Boss. Jesus although being the head, also submitted to the Holy Spirit.

While serving Jesus kept 2 things very important so also does the Godhead throughout the Bible:

     1) The purpose, the result or the goal
     2) The process

No compromise on either 2 is acceptable.

Be guided by the Spirit of God and serve one another. Serving the Body of Christ like Jesus did, always keeping the purpose and process in mind.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, we need more and more of You among us. Holy Spirit, guide us and show us the way to serve like Jesus did. Give us the strength and enable us that we help those You have put into our lives to encourage unto receiving their salvation which Jesus Christ has made possible. Help us humble ourselves for this purpose while keeping in mind who we are in You...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
