Luke 12:37 Blessed [are] those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
In this world we work for a period and retire at an age varying from 55 to 65. Many think the same with ministry, but that is not the case.
As Christians, we run a race which ends with us sleeping in Him. Like Moses, we stop ministry the moment we are no longer alive in the flesh. This so called ‘race’ has an expected/minimum result that varies by person, depending on the mission they are called to. It has both our personal goal and building others to achieve the general goal.
Paul was given a mission to minister to Gentiles (unbelievers), kings (Church leaders), and the children of Israel (the spiritual little ones). It does not mean he succeeded in reaching out to all Gentiles, guiding all Church leaders and building all those who were spiritually little.
Paul’s letters are proof of his success in building those who were spiritually little. He wrote only to churches which struggle and not to those who were doing well. He wrote to those who were leading ministries, guiding them to do better. Paul also broke the barrier that did not allow on-Jews to know the Lord. It was just a handful non-Jew that were open to the knowledge of the Lord but everyone was. Even though Paul got himself in trouble by what he did in a synagogue in Jerusalem, he was given time by the Lord during his arrest to complete his mission and thus his ‘prison letters’ have an conclusion of him completing his race to receive a high crown.
Peter says it is only when we know what we are Called to and the mission/election we are given that we shall not fail in our race.
Let us be servants found working / completed our work when the Master comes.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, gave a task where all need to be part of. Lord, we pray we understand this mammoth task and work on it diligently, doing our part and building others to continue it till its end…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
