Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
When the topic of spiritual warfare comes up, we see people picturing it as Angels with swords fighting demons. Even Judgment Day is illustrated as millions of Angels (many on horses) with weapons fighting demons. The interesting fact is that Angels are shown as women more than men, even though the Bible refers to them as Sons of God.
I had the opportunity to have an encounter with an Angel twice; once I could not see but heard a voice clearly (not just me but also those with me), and that helped us to be saved by minutes from being stuck in the floods that hit Mumbai in 2005. The second time, I had a clear visual of the Angel; the people around me did not (quiet a lot of them were there in that small hall), but they did sense the glory and would not stand or do normal worship. They kept repeating just one line for more than an hour, and those playing the instruments were just playing something, not bothered by what the others were playing. The Angel appeared as an outline of bright light. The outline appeared to be a being looking like a human covered with a long robe, with long hair whose end was not visible, nor were the ends of the Angel’s hands or feet. Angels are neither female nor male as humans are; they are spirit beings and referred to as Sons since they have the image of the Father.
The concept of Angels being female comes from pagan beliefs like Greek/Roman. They had the Amazons, a kingdom of female warriors that none could match; even the gods feared them. Angels do not carry weapons like humans or pagan gods; the authority that they carry is their weapon. Their word is sufficient. Now imagine the power of the word spoken by the Lord. If it was His word by which all things were created, then does He need an army or weapons?
People, due to lack of knowledge, understanding and fear, have made Satan a god. They fear him more than they fear the Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient God. They do not know Satan, and they also do not know God The Father, God The Son, The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ; they picture them as superhumans.
Today’s scripture shows Satan and his goons know their end, and there is no escape from their end. They have given a period, and on Judgment Day they will meet their doom (punishment unto death). Unlike humans who have the hope of being saved, they do not. God knows they will not, since they knowingly rebelled against Him.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are a Merciful God. When You see even a little hope, You do all You can to bring success. Lord, we pray we do not harden our hearts such that we squash the little hope and are counted with the fallen angels for damnation…
We make this prayer in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
