Mark 1:34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

People know there is power in His Name, for many scriptures confirm this. But they think just by knowing Him they will experience this power.

Today’s scripture and many other scriptures show that Jesus did not allow evil spirits/demons/fallen angels to reveal who He was. The shocking fact is that that situation was not only then but even today most Christians know the Lord Jesus Christ less than what evil spirits do.

People truly do not study scriptures; even while reading, they abide by what man has spoken to them and not what the scripture speaks to them. Just of late, I was shocked to realise a 100-year-old ministry that is connected to scripture distribution itself misunderstood a scripture and misquotes it every time. They assume Isaiah 55:11 speaks of every copy achieving its purpose and not returning void; they do not realise it speaks of what the Bible claims/states will not return void. The parable of sowers and seeds gives a clear understanding that where we sow is important of it fruitfulness.

Let us understand that the power in the Name of Jesus is when we are in His Name. Just knowing or studying about Him will not manifest His power, but only when we abide in His Name will that power manifest in us. As we know Him more, we are called to abide in Him more; it is then we will see the glory of God. But if we study of Him more and not abide in Him, then we are very likely to become hard-hearted like the demons/evil spirits.

Last night itself, a veteran Preacher was confidently sharing with me about his experiences with well-known pastor/s and how their attitude shocked him. Their response at that moment was not just unworthy as a Christian but heartless as a human.

Let us stop being verbal Christians and more actioned Christians. Let our actions speak more than what our mouths do.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You, are Almighty God. You Lord are Living God, a God who is Holy, Righteous and Loving. It is not in words but also by Your works You prove who You are. We pray Lord, we realise we cannot fool You but only ourselves by being verbal Christians. Your Word says to follow You to be Your Disciple and not just reap what You have spoken. We pray we do not harden our hearts to be like demons but abide in You to be like the Heavenly Angels…

We make this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
