Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;

Being children of God, we are called to imitate Him. In today’s scripture, it is not just a request but a command. It does not say if possible or please, but a direct instruction.

No being has seen God, so how is it possible to imitate Him?

In the very subsequent verses, we see Paul speaks of imitating someone we have known in person through Scripture and witnesses who have seen and interacted with Him, and that is Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ took the form of man in the flesh, and while in the flesh He manifested the Nature of the Father. We come to know the Father only through Him. He, as God The Son, created the Heavens and all of creation that exists, so the only way to know the Father is by knowing Him.

Can we expect God to invite us to be part of Him if we are not emulating Him as His Children? Can a man accept a child as his if the child looks like another race?

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You are Father. A Part of You created us and all that exists. Lord, we pray that we understand that to be part of You, we have to share something common in You. Lord we pray we be more and more like Jesus who as man manifested You for He alone knows You and has seen You…

We make this prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
