2 Corinthians 9:14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

When we read this, one tends to assume the scripture demonstrates the power of prayer ministry, wherein one sits in a room, praying continuously, and things happen.

Both Jesus and Paul highlighted the importance and power of prayer, but both their ministries were focused on going out to reach people in public places, in their houses, and in various places, and ministering to them.

Prayer is the ignition; it opens doors, breaks barriers, brings down strongholds, but then we still need to reach out, minister to people so that they, too, experience the power of God and do the same.

When we come to Christ, we are set free from the bondage of sin, but one thing people do not understand is that to remain free, we are called to get into another bondage. We were slaves of sin, and after we are set free by knowing Christ, to remain free, we need to become slaves to men.

To remain free from sin, we need to take the burden of Christ, and in the process of carrying it we become more like Him and fulfil the scripture, who the Son sets free is free indeed.

If we do not do what the Son has asked of us, then how can we be set free?

Today’s scripture translates the Greek word ‘deesis’, which means want, seeking, asking, as ‘prayer’. The verb does not mean only a verbal action.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You are Divine One. You created us and called us your children. As children we are called to reflect You. You just did not desire good for us, but also put into action this desire by becoming one of us and not just making a way when there was no way but also showing us how to walk the way. Lord we pray we do not just sit and pray but also share the truth with others and become example of You, leading others to follow You…

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
