Matthew 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

In Revelation, we find Heaven has gold and precious stones but not silver. The precious stones are not precious because they are costly. There are some more costly stones than the ones mentioned that Heaven is made of. The stones are symbolic, and people will be shocked to know what they represent (they are connected to the 12 tribes of Israel, but they, too, were symbolic of something mentioned in NT).

Gold symbolises spiritual wealth, while silver symbolises earthly wealth. This wealth need not be just monetary; it can also include skills, social status, fame, beauty, personality, etc.

Judas, only after making the grave mistake, realised that silver has no value in death. He forsook the Lord for some silver coins and was sorry, but did not repent (make good), thus was considered as a lost soul.

Bible does not say silver is evil; it was used in vessels which were sacred along with gold vessels unto the Lord.

We need to understand the limitations of silver and know it is important, but then it is something of use only while we dwell in these earthly bodies. But when it comes to gold, it is deposited in our Heavenly account and can gain us a high crown in Heaven. Heaven is not a flat place but has levels, so to be closer to the glory of the Lord, we need to seek the higher levels/high crown.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You alone are God and Creator of all things that exist. Everything You created is not by chance but by intention, with purpose. So even the things of this world are created for us to understand the things which we can not see. Lord, we pray we do not blindly seek things but understand what we seek and why we seek them. We pray we do not be foolish to seek silver over gold or to ignore its importance completely. Help us to walk in truth and understanding…

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
