Joel 1: 3 Tell ye your children of it, and [let] your children [tell] their children, and their children another generation.
Yesterday, a sister whom I have been ministering to asked me about churches celebrating Easter. She was amazed at how blind people are to what they are doing. Let alone the congregation, even the leaders and Pastors do not realise what they are doing!
Today’s scripture is a perfect answer to what we see happening around us. The destructions, both natural and man-made, are consuming us. The reason is that ‘new wine’ is kept away from us.
A few days back, at a fellowship, they were celebrating the Lord’s Table. The moment the wine bottle was opened, a strong alcohol aroma filled the room. The smell itself was sufficient to give me a high. Ever since my encounter with the Lord, I have been totally sober. In my sobriety, even a drop can give me a high.
The wine used at the Lord’s Table and mentioned in today’s scripture as ‘new wine’ was fresh grape juice.
During Church service, we see that they give them flavoured grape juice. But Pastors use fermented wine (strong wine like famous Indian Port wine). They do not realise it was the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread that they were celebrating, and since yeast was forbidden, they had fresh grape juice.
The Lord refers to people as drunkards, and due to their drunkardness, they are in another spirit, and thus are facing the wrath of God.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You are a Merciful God. But when it comes to Holy Things, You do not hold back Your wrath. Lord, we pray your people understand the danger of messing with things that are precious to You…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
