Zechariah 12:4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
Today’s scripture has little to do with history and more with symbolism. If interpreted correctly, it gives us insight into what is happening now.
To define the base, the term horse symbolises prosperity (in Hebrew, the word means swift). Judah here does not refer to the tribe but to a state of spiritual growth. We grow from Egypt to Israel with Jerusalem and Judah being stages respectively. So here speaks of those who have been ‘Christian’ for a long time (thus includes leaders). This scripture is expounded by John of Patmos in Revelation 16:21. The word Euphrates means ‘good and abounding river’. Incidentally, this actual river is drying up and, within a few years, may cease to exist if this continues.
The Lord is telling us He is going to cause prosperity to be increased (astonishment) in the worldly people and lead them to go into madness (fury). He will scrutinise those who have been Christian for a long time and will cause those who fail to be driven by foolishness.
This is a repeat of the time when the Israelites did not listen, and the Lord caused them to be taken into exile to Babylon.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are Slow to Anger; thus bear our folly for a period. We have been testing Your Patience since ages. Lord, You will not stand back and allow us to destroy ourselves. You are intervening to save us from ourselves. We pray Your people wake up and see the foolishness they follow, that too taking Your Name…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Acts 7:42-43
42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices [by the space of] forty years in the wilderness?
43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
