1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear:
Yesterday I was preaching at a Gujarati Church (in Hindi) on this very topic (1 Peter 1:10-19). They thought someone could come and give them a message of encouragement, and they were in for a surprise wake-up call.
They were shaken up when I conveyed to them what grace is and how it will save them from Hell, but not take them to Heaven. What impacted them was knowing the difference between works of righteousness, works of mercy and works of faith.
At the service, a couple who minister (pastor a Church) in a remote city and lost their infant girl of just 3 months had come to meet me for answers regarding what would be the state of the spirit of their child. I had asked them to attend the service telling them after the service, I would answer them. But by hearing the preaching, their primary question was answered.
We as Christians need to get it into us that we are not Christians unless we do the mission Christ has given us. It is only when we do works of faith that we get to enter Heaven.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You Lord are Merciful God but are also Righteous and Holy. Lord we pray we take Heaven likely. We pray we understand it has purpose and only when we work the purpose we will be eligible to enter Heaven…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
[Reference Scriptures]
Deuteronomy 10:17 For the LORD your God [is] God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
Matthew 22:16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any [man]: for thou regardest not the person of men.
Matthew 25:32-41, 45-46
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
