Colossians 2: 14, 15 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
A more accurate translation of today’s scripture would be:
Washing away the handwritten degree that was through us, which was against us, and took it away, nailed it to the cross; spoiling the first place (of angels and demons) and power of choice, making an open example, triumphing over them in it.
What is most astounding is that the words washing, spoiling, and triumphing are not in future, present or past tense, but are in Aorist tense, which means past, present and future together. When we put this into perspective, it astonishes us to know that God was aware of all that would happen and yet went ahead. Thus, it assures us that the result is in our favour. The victory is assured.
What we need to realise is that victory is assured for mankind, but that does not guarantee our personal place unless we abide in God’s plan.
Let us not take God or our entry to Heaven for granted. We need to understand that unless we are working according to the plan of God revealed through His Word, we are not amongst those whose degree is nailed to the Cross.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are a Living God, and Life is within You. You created us later after you made Heaven and the beings there in, but we were in Your Plans from the beginning. Lord, we pray we understand even though we are little, almost nothing, yet You love us less to none other. Lord we pray we do not take You for grant, nor your grace. We pray we abide in You and Your Plans for us…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
