What they meant by saying he was a sinner was that he had sinned gravely and thus was punished with blindness. Later, when they heard he was blind from birth, they accused the parents of being grave sinners.

Sickness is indeed related to sin; it was only when man sinned that sickness started manifesting in man. Adam means ‘man’, but also means ‘reddish’, symbolising fullness of life. It was in Enos, the grandson of Adam, that they began to see sin manifest as sickness and death; thus named Enos, which means mortal.

If we understand sickness and Bible symbolism we will realise sickness is not always a punishment for the sin, many a times the person may carry the sin / sin nature yet not have sickness (related to that sin). That nature will be passed on but not suffered. God allows natural sickness to manifest so as to alert us of our spiritual sickness. Every natural sickness is related to our spiritual corruption.

If God had gone by the rule book then all of us should be blind and seriously sick, but it is the mercy of God not all of us are blind or seriously sick. If we have any sickness, it comes to warn us of where we need to spiritually work on.

In the young man’s case Jesus confirmed the blindness the young man suffered was not because of his some serious sin nor of his parents. Note the man did approach Jesus for healing but Jesus approached him. God allowed that blindness to manifest so that he be healed and by it we understand sickness, understand the love and power of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God.

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Mark 9:17-18, 23-27
17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, [Thou] dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And [the spirit] cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

Dated 21 June 2026
Bro Rollwyn

John 9:24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

[1
53,60
post-1000","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog","tag-john-924","tag-who-is-a-greater-sinner
["GET
