Haggai 1: 14 And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,<\/p>\n
In today\u2019s scripture, we read of a situation where the persons in position did not perform their duties due to the fear of man. The Lord had to stir their spirit to get them to do their duties.<\/p>\n
Gill’s commentary states, \u2018He gave them a spirit both of industry and courage; He enabled them to shake off that sluggish disposition they were attended with, and that fear of men which possessed them; He inspired them with zeal and resolution to enter upon the work at once, and pursue it with close application.\u2019<\/p>\n
The purpose of the Temple needs to be understood. It is not that God is a narcissistic person to desire praise or worship. The reason He desires our worship or praise is for our own benefit. There is power in His Name, and when we call on His Name, we come under an umbrella of protection, for Heavenly powers move on His Name.<\/p>\n
The Israelites did not know God well and thus were dependent on symbolic things and ceremonies. Had they not, they would have perished, and God did not want them to perish; therefore, God had to stir up the spirits of Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the people concerned with the Temple activities. The Temple existed but was not built as per the design given by the Lord; it was incomplete.<\/p>\n
In the times we dwell, we need the Lord to again stir up the spirits of Church leaders, people doing ministry, so that they focus on the purpose and not get lost in activities or be satisfied by bringing people into the Church. We need to not just bring the lost sheep to know the Lord but also build them in the Lord, for they are the real Temple.<\/p>\n

\nLord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are Holy God. You call on us to be holy, for You are Holy. Lord, we pray that we understand the journey we need to travel, that we do not be fooled by false grace and become complacent and be consumed by vanity…<\/p>\n

\n48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all [things]: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.<\/p>\n
