Amos 8: 7, 8 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works. Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as [by] the flood of Egypt.<\/p>\n
The word translated as \u2018excellency\u2019 in today\u2019s scripture also means \u2018pride\u2019 or \u2018exaltation\u2019, and the word Jacob\/Yaaqob means \u2018heel holder\u2019, which also means \u2018one who strikes at the heel\u2019. We know the curse\/judgment delivered to Satan\/serpent in Genesis 3 that Satan will strike\/bruise the heel of man\/woman\u2019s seed and the man\/seed will crush his head.<\/p>\n
Jacob in other words was spiritually a child of Satan (like all of us before knowing Christ) and the promise of Israel was given to not just Jacob but also his seed. The word \u2018Isra-el\u2019 means Prince having power with God, in other words refers to Sons of God. Jacob who by name was a child of Satan was given the promise of becoming Son of God.<\/p>\n
We by our faith in Jesus Christ become seed of Abraham and inheritors of his, Isaac\u2019s and Jacob\u2019s promises that includes Isra-el\/Sons of God. The Israelites\/Jews did not see this promise being fulfilled in them. This promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, He became the first Israel, and we who believe in Him see this promise getting fulfilled in our lives as we walk in His Spirit.<\/p>\n
In today\u2019s scripture God is speaking to those who have not taken the journey of baptism\/repentance and are still Jacob. God is telling them He sees and remembers all the evil they are doing and have done. No doubt they will get their punishment on Judgment Day, yet to put a halt to the increasing evil, God intervenes. He is saying the natural disasters are indirect doings of His Hand (He prevented them since long and now removes His protection\/mercy).<\/p>\n
Let us not assume that, things are going okay, thus we were going well. God is patient that does not mean He is forgetful, asleep, and blind to what we are doing.<\/p>\n

\nLord, You are Almighty God. You are Merciful God but are also Righteous and Holy. You are Slow to Ager and Longsuffering. You time and again warn before You intervene to stop evil from completely destroying man. Lord we pray we do not test Your patience, but repent and not remain as Jacob\u2026<\/p>\n
