SUMMARY:Correction
DESCRIPTION:James 5: 19\, 20 Brethren\, if any of you do err from the truth\, and one convert him; Let him know\, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death\, and shall hide a multitude of sins. \nChristians think they can be corrected only by their Pastor or Church elders\, and Pastors can be corrected only by their mentors or by God Himself. This understanding is in line with Catholic Church doctrine and not Biblical doctrine. \nBiblically\, the right to correct depends on Calling and spiritual maturity. A person with a higher Calling can correct those whom he or she serves. Like an Apostle can correct a Prophet\, or Prophet a Teacher\, a Teacher an Evangelist… \nBut also a person skilled in a specific domain can correct those higher in hierarchy\, like a Teacher when it comes to Biblical understanding\, a Prophet regarding prophecies\, an Apostle in Kingdom administration… \nSpiritual maturity is also a key factor and is not a constant parameter. A person who was spiritually mature but is backsliding is considered spiritually low\, and such a person can be corrected by anyone spiritually stable. That means if a Pastor is doing something wrong and continuing in it\, then even his congregation can correct him or her. It does not mean just accuse them before all. Jesus gave a process in Matthew 18:15-17 that we need to follow. We need to correct out of love\, with goodness and gentleness. \nCorrecting another Believer is not an option but a duty of every Christian. Today’s scripture tells us that when we correct a Brethren we do not just save them from a multitude of sins\, we also save their souls. If we do not\, then their blood will be on our hands\, and we will have to answer for it on Judgment Day. Understand\, knowing or being aware of the downfall of a Brethren and not correcting them makes us party to the death of that Brethren. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord alone\, are Holy God. You alone are Perfect. Lord\, we pray that we are called to be a Body\, for we complement and support one another. When one of us falls\, we are called to lift up that person as You do to us. Lord\, we pray that we understand our responsibility to each other and how love binds us together. We pray we correct with love\, goodness and gentleness… \nThis prayer we make in Jesus’ Name\, Amen. \n[Reference Scriptures]\nPsalms 119:21 Thou hast rebuked the proud [that are] cursed\, which do err from thy commandments. \nPsalms 119:118 Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit [is] falsehood. \n2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore\, beloved\, seeing ye know [these things] before\, beware lest ye also\, being led away with the error of the wicked\, fall from your own stedfastness. \n1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself\, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself\, and them that hear thee. \nMatthew 18:15-17\n15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee\, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee\, thou hast gained thy brother.\n16 But if he will not hear [thee\, then] take with thee one or two more\, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.\n17 And if he shall neglect to hear them\, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church\, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. \n
