SUMMARY:Exchange for one’s life
DESCRIPTION:Mark 8:37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul {spirit}? \nIn IT\, we have products that state ‘lifetime warranty\,’ and many think that\, while they are alive\, they will get service for it. They do not realise that when the manufacturer states lifetime\, they are referring to the life of the product\, and that is normally 3 to 5 years. \nWhen we buy something\, we do not realise that most of the time we are just renting/leasing it\, and they are for a period. Most electronics or mechanical items have a very short period of a few years\, and after that they are redundant; we may drag their utility for some more years. Even things like property are not forever\, for we ourselves are not forever. We use them for a period and may hand them over to our children; the day someone of our generation does not have children\, the property is lost. \nThe word in today’s scripture translated as soul is the word that means ‘breathe’\, referring to our spirit\, which in turn refers to our life. Through today’s scripture\, the Lord is asking us what we can give in exchange for our own lives. \nFirstly\, our lives are a gift\, and we ourselves do not own them. Secondly\, our lives are not forever; only God has life within Himself\, and we who are His creation have a period of life. Our spirit life is in thousands of years\, but after we were put in the flesh and we sinned\, our natural lives were reduced and made to be no more than 120 years. That means we exit this natural world\, but our spirit till continues to exist. To implement this\, Hell came into existence. Hell is a stronghold/prison where a spirit that does not know God is kept till it completes its spirit life term\, and during this period it suffers all the sins within it. \nThose who sleep in the Lord before Judgment Day will rise and be judged. While we sleep\, the time clock is frozen/it is like cryonics. Those who get to enter Heaven get access to the Tree/River of Life\, which allows renewal of life as and when needed; thus\, like other Heavenly beings can live eternally. Those who do not enter Heaven go to the Lake of Fire\, where they do not suffer their sins but a severe punishment for forsaking the Will of God. \nSo if we look at things on the whole\, all materialistic things or accolades of this world last for a blink of an eye. What lasts are things that are spiritual\, and that too only if we go to Heaven. \nSo when we look at the whole\, we have nothing\, not even our own lives; thus\, what can we give for our own lives but just thanks to God. We live for a purpose wherein we are blessed in Him and spiritually prosper in Him. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, created us to have life and that too in fullness. Lord\, we pray we understand we were created and exist for a purpose\, and that purpose is only in You. We pray we do not get distracted from the purpose with things that are futile. SUMMARY:Denying Christ
DESCRIPTION:Mark 14:67\, 68 And when she saw Peter warming himself\, she looked upon him\, and said\, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. But he denied\, saying\, I know not\, neither \nThere is an Indian Evangelist whom I saw grow from the start. A ministry which I was a part of gave him his first break in Mumbai\, and the Lord did just awesome things through him. He is great in his Gifting but his understanding of Scripture is average; yet many young leaders\, seeing the manifestation of his Gifts refer to him as their ‘spiritual father’. He foolishly moved out of India\, not realising the Lord called him for a purpose here. Yesterday I was saddened to see him posting a photo of him referring to an African Preacher (Prosperity Gospel) as his father! The Lord has taken second place in his life. \nPeople do not realise that everyone who keeps saying God is not His. We need to discern everyone and everything they say. There are times like Peter\, who will deny for a period and then return in greater power and anointing. I pray someday my brother will also return to the Lord and stop running after fame\, riches and people. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, created us to be light in the darkness so as to overcome it and not make a deal with darkness. SUMMARY:Whoredom and Wine
DESCRIPTION:Hosea 4: 10-11 For they shall eat\, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom\, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. \nThe world today is a consumer world; we are like huge monsters\, devouring whatever people/media are offering. They tickle our senses\, and we fall in their trap. Our desires become our needs\, and then we cannot do without them. \nToday’s scripture tells us the cause of our behaviour is whoredom and wine. To understand this\, we need to understand why bread and wine are used at the Lord’s Table. \nThe Hebrew word for ‘bread’ comes from the root word ‘conflict’\, and ‘wine’ comes from the root word to possess/inherit. He also said the bread is His flesh\, and the word for ‘flesh’ comes from the root word ‘message’. \nUntil we let His message ignite the conflict within us and we overcome our worldly selves\, we will not be considered as inheritors of the Kingdom of God. Jesus said that unless we die\, we cannot have life. We are called to put our worldly selves/nature to death to be assured of eternal life. \nToday’s scripture speaks of whoredom and wine. The word whoredom/fornication roots from the word to play the harlot. We know a harlot is someone who sells one’s body for monetary reasons. One is mostly pulled into the business for survival\, but later it becomes simply business. \nWhen we live materialistic/carnal lives\, we sell a part of ourselves for what we desire to obtain. Like a harlot\, over time the gilt dies\, and it is just business\, not for survival. \nWhen we are at the Lord’s Table\, it is a spiritual arena\, but today’s scripture talks of a worldly arena; thus\, the ‘wine’ we seek is not to inherit the Kingdom of God but to inherit this world that perishes. Thus we too will perish with it. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, are Spirit\, and Your Kingdom is Spirit world. Lord\, we pray that although we live in this world\, we seek not this world but seek Your Kingdom and things of Your Kingdom. DESCRIPTION:2 Corinthians 5:12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you\, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf\, that ye may have somewhat to [answer] them which glory in appearance\, and not in heart. \nPaul is known for his humility\, and if someone understands the letters to the Church of Corinth\, we see that the greatest thing is the transformation of Paul. \nThe congregation of Corinth were pulled up for all the wrongdoings\, but the level of rebuking by Paul to any Church is the most here. They were not only most corrupt but also most candid. They had publicly touched on Paul’s weak spot\, his problem with speech\, for he was a bad orator. They went to the extent of comparing him with his own student Timothy\, who\, being an Evangelist\, was blessed as an orator. \nPaul had prayed to the Lord thrice with regard to his problem\, but the Lord had not hearkened; instead said\, ‘My grace is sufficient’. \nIt I said\, a woman gives birth to a child\, and it is the child who makes the woman a mother. Similarly\, a good teacher makes good students\, and it is the students who make the teacher a better teacher. \nThe Corinthians had a problem\, but Paul’s endurance to change also triggered his own change. The problem comes when both are least concerned with edification. When either one seeks change\, both change. \nOur Churches are suffering not just because of the congregation but also because of the mentors; neither genuinely seeks God. If either one would\, then both would change. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. Lord\, Your Kingdom is not of this world. The world considers You its enemy\, and those who love this world also make themselves an enemy. Lord\, we pray; we seek not this world or worldly things but seek You more than anything else. SUMMARY:Wise are slain
DESCRIPTION:Daniel 2:13 And the decree went forth that the wise [men] should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain. \nIf one studies history\, the Tower of Babel triggered world languages\, and the Babylonian era triggered world technology and the birth of modern religions. \nNebuchadnezzar had a craze for mystical things\, and this led him to collect the best minds from various parts of the world. He invaded countries and wiped them not only of their riches but also of their learned ones. \nIndia’s own golden era (Gupta Empire) started with the Maurya Empire (Emperor Ashoka)\, and this was because of its close relationship with the Babylonian Empire. One can see that Emperor Ashoka had official seals that were in Hebrew. Babylon did not change the beliefs of anyone but accepted them all and brought them under its fold. The oldest Sanskrit artefact is of this era and from this region. \nThe scripture says that when Nebuchadnezzar was disappointed with all the learned he had gathered\, for none could interpret his dream\, his ministers insinuated him to slaughter the wise\, and ironically the first on the list were Daniel and his colleagues. They were the ones who truly knew God and were the wisest amongst all that were there. \nIn Churches today\, we see the same happening. Preachers who preach the truth are sidelined/excommunicated silently\, but those who are destroying the masses with junk food are lifted on pedestals. \nTruth causes discomfort\, like the Bread of the Lord’s Table (His message) they ignite a conflict within us. This conflict leads to change\, which the world hates. \nOne will notice that famous Preacher’s audiences remain in the same spiritual state and never grow or go out ministering independently; they will always be in the shadow of that Preacher. The only thing growing is the riches and fame of the Preacher and his core members. The Kingdom of God has little to do here. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, humbled Yourself and became a sacrifice for mankind so that man could be lifted. SUMMARY:Overcoming via emotions
DESCRIPTION:Matthew 14:5 And when he would have put him to death\, he feared the multitude\, because they counted him as a prophet. \nA couple of Sundays back\, for some reason I did not attend Sunday Service\, and my niece\, who had come to stay with us\, was attending her service online\, and I sat with her too. Since her Church service was earlier than my Church service\, we attended both preachings. \nA young preacher of her church preached with great charisma and motivation. With his voice modulation and body language\, he captured everyone’s attention and did a great job. He was an evangelist by Calling and this spark was visible. When it came to our church\, the preaching was done by a sister who was a Teacher by Calling\, and she hardly moved from her place. There were no actions nor much voice modulation. We saw both and were discussing the difference. \nIf anyone wanted a boost of faith for a short period\, for\, say\, healing or deliverance\, the Evangelist was the perfect solution. When we look at the Teacher’s preaching\, the understanding did not drive any great emotions but made a change deep within. It changed one’s outlook towards the matter she had taken up. \nIn today’s scripture\, we see Herod\, who wanted to marry his sister-in-law Herodias\, was angry with John the Baptist since John objected to it\, stating it was unlawful. Herod feared an uprising from the people if he did anything to John\, for the people considered John a Prophet. Later on Herod’s birthday\, Herodias’ daughter Salome danced before him\, and this pleased Herod so much that he granted her one wish. She wished for John’s head for the sake of her mother. Herod\, not wanting to go back on his word\, did behead John. \nEmotions\, good or bad\, can drive us to overcome fear; that fear could be good or bad. i.e. we can overcome fear of being harmed\, depression\, unloved\, etc. by emotionally driving our faith through words of encouragement or simply a love expression like a hug\, laying of hands\, etc. We can also overcome the fear of God\, moral fear\, lust\, misplaced love\, greed\, etc.\, like we see happen in today’s case. \nTruth will bring the right perspective to our lives even though it will take time. Being emotionally boosted is good in the short term but can have two extreme results. So let us not always seek the tickling of our senses\, go after Preachers who emotionally drive us\, but seek those who build us gradually and firmly. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, are Awesome God. You are All-Knowing and All-Seeing. You\, Lord\, do not look for shortcuts but seek long-term\, permanent changes in us. SUMMARY:Least is greater than he
DESCRIPTION:Luke 7:28 For I say unto you\, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. \nWhen we read the Bible there are some iconic people whom we look up to as gold standards. These include people like Abraham\, Moses\, David\, Solomon\, Elijah etc… \nWhen we introspect their lives deeply we see men of great failures\, Abraham a icon of faith laughed at God’s words\, Moses was punished to disobedience\, David a man according to heart of God\, lost his heart to another married woman\, Solomon praised for his wisdom did the most foolish thing of worshiping idols\, gods and goddesses\, Elijah who did greatest miracles in the OT was rebuked by the Lord (Jesus) Himself in the NT. \nIn today’s scripture we see Jesus speaks of John the Baptist who was Elijah born again as man (it can not be called incarnation since Elijah had not died). As John\, Elijah repented of his arrogance and thus Jesus said that of those born of women (He was excluded as His birth was a arrogate birth) there was none greater. This was another gold standard but then like other gold standards not the ultimate. We all have the possibility of achieving greater or doing more than any person mentioned in the whole Bible. When Jesus Himself said we would do greater things than what He did then can anyone else from the Bible we any higher\, impossible level? \nThe path on how to become greater is also revealed in today’s scripture. The scripture says we need to be least to be greater. In the Beatitudes we see two which ask us to be poor in spirit and meek to inherit the Kingdom of God and inherit this earth (people). \nTo be poor in spirit does not mean to be nothing but to be self-aware of our own spiritual growth and what is there to achieve. To be meek means to be gentle which in turn means to wisely seek the best path to edify others. Today’ scripture tell us to be least to be greater than John/Elijah that also means not to be nothing but to know we are little compared to what we are called to be. \nLet us not idolize anyone from the Bible that are born of woman. All of them although are gold standards yet are standards we can break. When the Lord named His own gold standards\, He did not take the names of the people I named before but took names of Noah\, Job and Daniel. These people are not usual inspiring characters yet the Lord holds them of great value\, and we need to learn of them to break gold standards. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You\, are Almighty God. You are God and You alone are God. You humbled Yourself any created this imperfect world so that in its drive for perfection it will be found suitable to dwell with You and in You. SUMMARY:Sealing the stone
DESCRIPTION:Matthew 27:66 So they went\, and made the sepulchre sure\, sealing the stone\, and setting a watch. \nIn a crime scene like murder\, the police\, after doing their initial investigation\, seal the place until the full investigation is over. The seal alerts others that the place is under the custody of the authorities who have sealed it. \nIn the book of Daniel\, we see the symbolism of putting a seal on the stone. The king and his lords put their seal on the stone after putting Daniel in the lions’ den. The seal confirmed who had authorised it and their consent. \nSealing warned anyone from the outside from interfering and helping. In both cases of Daniel and Jesus\, those who sealed feared their supports thus had the stone was also guarded. DESCRIPTION:John 1:34 And I saw\, and bare record that this is the Son of God. \nI have seen most\, including theologians and people considered experts in the Bible\, lack understanding of the term ‘Son of God’\, and I do not blame them\, since this concept has been programmed into them by the Catholic Church. \nWe do not realise that we believers\, even today\, have been brainwashed by the Catholic Church’s nonsense\, which they derived from pagan religions and infused into Christianity. We read many scriptures yet believe contrary to them because of doctrines programmed into us. \nAs an apologist\, I have come across Muslim Ulama (similar to our theologians) who mock Christians on the term Sons of God\, stating there are many ‘Sons of God’ in the Bible\, so how is Jesus different? \nThere is a great\, great difference between the concepts ‘God the Son’ and ‘Son of God’. Lord Jesus Christ is both. He is God the Son who humbled Himself to become both Son of man and Son of God. To be Son of God\, He\, as Son of man\, had to study the Word of God and also remain without blemish (live it). God the Son was something that He was\, but Son of God is something He had to earn/live. \nThe term Son of God has been referred to Angels and also to something we will become upon resurrection. It is the goal of our race. The term refers to one who has the image of God; in other words\, manifests the power/authority of God. It does not mean they are perfect/holy\, but means they are due for holiness\, like we are due for righteousness\, and even though we falter at times\, yet are called His righteous. \nThe term God the Son means one who has come from God (not sent but literality come from within Him). The Angel knew of this identity of the Lord Jesus Christ\, and thus when the evil spirits(fallen angels) almost revealed it\, Jesus shut them and commanded them not to reveal it. Even today\, translators err in translating that scripture and use the term Son of God instead of The God The Son. \nNone of the people around Him\, while He was in the flesh\, as man\, knew of Him as God the Son\, not even His mother Mary. They knew of Him as Son of God. It was Thomas who\, after His resurrection\, was the first to identify Him as God (God the Son/God). \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You alone are God\, and there is none other than You. As Son\, You came from the Father and humbled Yourself to create this world and everything that we know of. The Heavens and this creation and all that exist within are Your creation. You made it so that by overcoming darkness we earn our place as Sons of God and thus be found worthy to become part of the Father. SUMMARY:Being a Witness
DESCRIPTION:Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. \nAs a Christian\, everyone is called to two tasks: to be a messenger and to be a witness. \nA messenger is a carrier of a message\, the same as a witness\, but in the case of a witness\, the message is personal\, something that the carrier has experienced. A witness has greater impact than a messenger. One would listen to a witness anytime\, more than they would to a messenger. A witness speaks of things which he or she has not only heard but also seen/experienced. \nAsk anyone if they would like to be an Angel\, and every soul would be most glad to be one. The term Angel means messenger. What people do not realise is that we as humans are called to be witnesses\, not just messengers. After Judgment Day\, we who have been both witnesses and messengers will transform into Angels. \nWe as humans need to understand that we are truly blessed to be witnesses to the Lord Jesus Christ. So let us be grateful for making us\, and let us not lose this opportunity given unto us. Let us share all that the Lord has done in our lives. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. SUMMARY:Abundant Grace
DESCRIPTION:2 Corinthians 4:15 For all things [are] for your sakes\, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. \nBeing fit means you can do daily tasks and regular exercise easily\, while being extremely fit means you perform at an elite athletic level with high endurance\, strength\, and specialised physical capacity. But when it comes to being sufficient and extremely sufficient\, the definition is technically redundant or hyperbolic. Being sufficient means having exactly the right amount to meet a requirement\, while “extremely sufficient” implies having a massive surplus or an abundance well beyond the baseline needed; thus means being rich and not sufficient. \nGrace\, like in grace marks\, is all the mercy that we need to pass the basic required level. Thus\, terms like abundant grace or greater grace would sound hyperbolic\, but are not. We need to understand that there are different types of grace: the basic/default grace that we all receive by our faith in Christ is the grace to be saved. Faith\, on the other hand\, means believing or holding on to the truth. Thus\, truth and mercy are the roots and are closely connected; the more we understand and hold on to it\, the more grace we receive. We also receive grace in the various areas of our lives\, the areas in which we struggle to overcome\, but this does not come at once; we need to build our faith/understanding in those areas to receive it. \nAnother misunderstanding people have about grace is that once we receive it\, we will never lose it; thus\, they have the wrong concept of ‘once saved\, always saved’. \nUnderstanding grace is closely connected to our faith; that means we are under grace when we have faith\, and the moment we lose faith\, we are no longer in grace. Those who backslide are those who lose faith and thus grace. \nIf we are under grace\, let us not take it for granted but understand we need to grow in grace (have it in all other areas of our lives in which we struggle)\, for we may not know one day; one of the areas in which we are weak may cause us to lose faith and thus cause us to no longer be under grace. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, are a Merciful God. You did not consume the Angels when one-third fell but gave them time\, even though You knew they would not repent and when man fell\, You made available a sacrifice and gave us Your Spirit as a Helper; above all\, You covered us with grace. SUMMARY:Return of unclean spirits
DESCRIPTION:Luke 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man\, he walketh through dry places\, seeking rest; and finding none\, he saith\, I will return unto my house whence I came out. \nBible says flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; that means we\, as humans\, cannot enter Heaven but transfigure/become spirit beings as Angels on Judgment Day like Jesus transfigured\, so as to enter Heaven. Angels do not have gender or age; all were created male (Sons) and together in the beginning. We as humans have age\, for we come into the flesh at different times. \nLike flesh cannot dwell in the spirit world\, so also spirit cannot dwell in this natural world for long. It is not that they cannot\, but the repercussion of their doing will affect us tremendously. It is for this reason many times Angels and even the Lord took human forms and appeared before man. \nFallen angels/evil spirit/unclean spirits had their powers marked (restricted) during the Noah floods; thus\, they cannot take human form or any other form\, and need hosts to survive in this natural world. They cannot last long without a host or any host other than humans; it is similar to us not being able to survive long underwater. They cannot possess those who have the Name/nature of the Lord/light; they are happy dwelling in hearts that have darkness\, where the truth is absent. A single person that has great darkness can host not just one evil spirit but many. An evil spirit taking residence does not mean it actually resides in that body\, but it means it spiritually attaches to its host like a parasite/leach leading to the host’s destruction. The Holy Spirit on the other hand fills us and builds us. \nToday’s scripture warns us that if we are delivered from an evil spirit and still harbour darkness\, then there are high chances we will again be host to evil spirit/s. The chances of having more take hold are also very high. \n[Prayer Starter]\nLord\, You are Almighty God. You\, Lord\, are Light\, and it is not that there is no darkness in You\, but even darkness cannot exist in Your presence. Lord\, we pray we realise that if we do not have You\, Your Word\, Your Nature in us\, then we are prone to evil spirits.
