Sing a New Song unto the Lord

Psalms 149: 1 - Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

The scriptures concerning sing a new song unto the Lord is what people take very passionately and then they try and try. We find people if not singing a new song modifying words in old songs or playing an old song in different ways.

The cult I spoke of WMSCOG printed a song book titled New Song Book which is exclusive to their congregation. They claimed their congregation of 144000 would be the saved congregation but incidentally they now a 200000 plus strong congregation, would like to know who among them would not be saved and why. People do not know what the term new song refers to therefore try all kind of things.

When I was meditating on some scriptures like ones one where Jesus sings hymns only once. God is not human to have ears to be pleased with music for He sees the heart and knows our communication even before we speak it out.

I was asking the Lord why Jesus did not sing hymns often, for He did pray often and do all other things that pleased the Father. Then the Lord opened my mind to understand songs and why we worship in songs and what it means to sing a new song every time. This understanding showed me how to truly worship the Lord.

Let me give a demonstration of this by example.

Say I am making a prayer to the Lord in words as follow:-

Lord, You are seated high above. Yet Lord You are not far from your people. When your people sing praise unto You and when they abide by your Law nothing can keep your people far from You.

Now the same prayer I make into a poem

Thou O Lord are seated high above
Yet Lord You are not far from your people
Nothing, nothing, nothing can come in between
When praise in on the lips and Law in the hearts of your people

What the poem does is, adds or increases the emotion factor to the words. Now if we sing these same words with music we find an explosion of the emotions. What happens is what we meant is words is now strongly meant in song. All that song does is puts the heart ahead of the mind in communication. Worship in hymns is necessary for us because we are far from God and our desire to be closer to Him can not be fulfilled just by our minds. It is by our hearts (including our minds / understanding) we come close to God. Thus we see Jesus sang hymns only during the weakest time on His life just before He was to be our sacrifice. During the other times He was one with the Father therefore did not need to sing hymns but just words.

Song has 3 factors to it words, music and emotions. A new song would mean a change between in any one of the 3 factors. That is why we see in Heaven even though the Heavenly Body sings only the words 'Holy, Holy, Holy' all time long yet every time they sing it is a new song. Every time they say the words they do it with a new understanding and with greater feeling.

The Hebrew 'rinnah' word translated as 'song' actually means 'ringing cry'. Giving more emphasises to the emotions than the verbal communication.

Another thing-
Thou O Lord are seated high above and O Lord thou are seated high above

Do not make a new song for they mean the same even thou the sequence of words may be different.

Let our songs be not a wise playing of words but be a new understanding and a new level of emotions coming from within us for the Lord. Our dancing should be an expression of our emotions, our dance steps do not please God but the expressions do.

Worship takes us into the Gates of the Lord; worship does bring us closer to the Lord, to experience a thicker glory of Him.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, we live because we worship You since worship and grace keeps us in your presence and does not let your wrath consume us. Lord, let our worship not be just intellectual words but a worship that comes from our hearts. Thus Lord help us keep a clean and holy heart that is not burdened by the worries and desires of this world but beats only for You and cries only for You...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Amos 5:10-24
10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.
18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
