Luke 7:25 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.
Today’s clothing is all about fashion and design. Before the invention of trousers, both men and women wore robes. The difference between men’s robes and women’s robes was the length. The men’s robe was shorter (just below the knee), while women’s robes were full length. At times men would make them shorter than required, and even God rebuked them for it.
People who were rich would be identified by the material and colour of their robes. Embroidered clothes were affordable only to the super-rich.
The first proper clothing was provided by the Lord after man sinned and became aware of his/her nakedness. The clothing was the skin of an animal, and it was the making available of the clothing that brought up the concept of sacrifice. The animal was eaten and not just discarded. Man was vegetarian before the concept of sacrifice.
We wear clothing because we (including people around us) are sinners and thus cover our nakedness. When man totally overcomes sin, then they will be able to transfigure into spirit beings (Angels), as Jesus manifested before His crucifixion. In our resurrection, we too will become as Angels.
Angels appear as wearing robes even though they are just light (non-material), but they are not like a human body covered; instead they robe is part of their body/ covering, like we have skin. They are spirit beings and do not have organs that need covering as we do. When I had an encounter with one, the hands, legs/length of the robe and hair did not seem to have ends to them.
We need to understand the purpose of clothing. We may pursue comfort and beauty, but not at the cost of losing the purpose. Let not our clothes propagate sin instead of covering it, until we fully overcome sin and can transfigure as Jesus Christ demonstrated.

Lord, You are Almighty God. You are Creator, for by You all things are created. You created everything in this natural world in an image of things of the spirit world. Then You created man in Your Image. It is by the design of how we are created that we can understand You and the purpose for which You created us. Lord, we pray we respect what we are and know our limitations, until we overcome them. We pray we respect our bodies and know how to present ourselves unto others, knowing that we firstly represent You…
