2 Timothy 2: 12,13 If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will deny us: If we believe not, [yet] he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
When I tell people like Satan, God too wants to kill us, and like God, Satan too wants us to enjoy life, and they get taken aback by what nonsense I am speaking.
Firstly, people need to understand the purpose for which God has created us. When we understand this, we will realize this natural life is temporary and can be a distraction from our purpose. Satan wants us to enjoy this life. For when we seek the world more than the Kingdom the Lord has set for us, or seek the pleasures of this world more than those of the Spirit world, then we are set for doom. We die a spiritual/eternal death, which is what Satan wants. God, on the other hand, wants us to suffer this life so that we enjoy eternal life.
Jesus said, “Whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it”.
God does not desire martyrs but wants soldiers who do the mission set for mankind, that is, to be a light in the darkness, a light that overcomes darkness. To be this light, we need to put our natural desires to death (not our needs), i.e. we cannot desire the riches of this world while seeking the treasures of the Kingdom of God.
I mentioned in my previous message that this Sunday I was preaching in a Church mostly of poor people, and God asked me to share the treasures of His Kingdom with them. Such an instruction I never received when I preached amongst the higher middle class or rich people; there, I was only called to rebuke or warn them.
Today’s scripture very clearly states that if we deny God, He will deny us. It also says that if we do not believe in God, that will not change His existence, nor if we do not believe in things of His Kingdom, it will cause them to disappear.
Let us not take the Kingdom of God or God for granted; let us neither take His goodness for granted. God is not a fool to bear our stupidity.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You are God, and You do not change. Lord, we pray that we realise we are called to change and not You. You are Holy, You are Perfect and not us. Lord, we pray understand our mission and not get distracted by the pleasures of this world. We know how to draw the line between need and pleasure…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Luke 16:9-12
9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches]?
12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?
