John 1: 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Jesus is referred to as the Lamb of God by John the Baptist (Elijah). This has nothing to do with the characteristics of the animal as most preachers depict, but has to do with Him being our ultimate Pascal sacrifice.

Jesus fulfilled every condition as the Pascal sacrifice, and we see Churches today try to deny that by their celebration of the Passover, which they call as Easter. They show Jesus was arrested on Wednesday and crucified on Friday, thus failing the 5 days of observation which was necessary.

In the Bible, we see it being clearly stated that He came to Jerusalem and celebrated the first day of Passover week / Unleavened Bread week, which started in the evening of the Sabbath. He was arrested after supper, kept under observation for 5days. On the 5th day, which is on Thursday, He was crucified. Friday was a high Sabbath (Passover celebration), and on Sunday, which is the third day, He resurrected.

What is more interesting is that the Lamb of God in Revelation does not refer to the animal. The Greek word used as ‘lamb’ in John, Acts, or 1 Peter is ‘amnos’, which refers to the animal, but the word used in Revelation is ‘arnion’, which comes from the root ‘arrhen’, which means ‘man’. Some translations render it as “ram” rather than “lamb”; it actually depicts Him as the Son of God (before returning to His glory). What is exciting is that the same term is used for us in Luke 10:3 and John 21:15 when we are growing in Him.
