Ezekiel 14:13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

Looking at all the natural and manmade disasters that are happening around the world, people immediately jump to the conclusion that the general public is sinning grievously, thus God is angry. This is because they lack biblical understanding.

Sin has been there and has increased with the population. People think some sins never happened, as we heard of the Epstein files, nothing of this is new, for in history it has happened time and again.

God intervenes only on two conditions: one, if the world’s sin is going to harm His people and second, when His own people sin over a limit.

During Noah’s flood, we saw that world sin was endangering the coming of the people of God; thus, God intervened with floods. What we are seeing now happening is the second reason, as mentioned in today’s scripture, that is, when His people have sinned grievously, beyond a limit. Ecclesiastes 5:13 tells us one of the greatest sins is to prevent the lost sheep from their inheritance. We are adding people to churches but not to the Kingdom of God.

God is Merciful and Slow to Anger, but that does not mean He will continue to forgive. If God were to do that, then that would make Him without principles. He bears our sin, but when we have received His sacrifice and yet mindlessly sin, then His wrath cannot be distanced from us.

To stop all that is happening in the world, we do not need the world to change, but we need to change. Our change can bring peace to the land around us, and thus can affect the whole world if we who know the Lord change.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. Lord, You are a Loving and Zealous God. In Your Zealous Love, You deal with our enemies, not only others, but also when we become our own enemy. Lord, we pray that we understand the only person who can truly destroy us is not Satan but we ourselves. If we stand in You, then no one, including Satan, can lay a finger on us…

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
