Acts 13: 38, 39 Be it known unto you therefore, men [and] brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Yesterday, I received a call from a Pastor known to me. He wanted to invite me to preach in his Church for Resurrection Sunday. But since he lacked proper understanding of things, he said ‘for Easter’ to me.
I am very clear between Easter and Resurrection Sunday, so I told him the difference, for I did not want to shock him from the stage between my preaching. The truth was too much for him, for he feared his congregation might not be able to take it. He immediately told me he would organise a special event for me to preach simple matters like the preaching of the Gospel. So this Resurrection Sunday, he will speak of Jesus’ resurrection but celebrate Ashtoreth’s birthday.
Today’s scripture may make someone believe Moses was anti-God or Jesus was anti-Moses. Moses did not deliver anything of his own but only that which the Lord spoke to him. Yet we see that it is written that the Law of Moses cannot save us, but that what the Lord Jesus Christ preached can!
What will surprise all is that all that Jesus said or did was according/fulfilment of that which Moses and other Prophets of the OT spoke. So if Jesus preached what Moses spoke, then how are they different?
The difference is that people did not understand what Moses said; they just followed the letter rather than its meaning. I was only through Jesus that we get to understand all that Moses spoke.
It is not the Bible that saves us, but its right understanding that does. The Bible becomes Word of God only when we understand it; it is the understanding that manifests the power of God, else it is just a Bible /which means a book.
Let us not be fooled that falsehood, even that which is preached in churches, will save us. Let us investigate and confirm every teaching with the scriptures. It is only the truth that can save us.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are Light, You are Truth. You never change, so also Your Word does not change. Lord, we pray we seek not the Bible but its understanding, for its understanding is that which makes it the Word of God. Lord, we pray that the understanding of our Word manifest Your Power and Light through us more and more…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
