Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
A few months back, as part of Gideon’s distribution of NT in schools, I went with another brother for permission to the Archbishop, hoping to be able to reach out to many Catholic Church-run schools. But when I saw hesitation on the face of the Archbishop, I quoted him Luke 12:8, which is similar to today’s scripture. He immediately took a step back and told us he would speak to his council that manages schools and revert. But later he did bend his knee to them, for they were afraid to stand up for Christ in case they loss fundings that supports the Church from these schools. With reduced congregation, the schools have become their primary support.
On the other hand, some years back, we had nuns who were principals; they went against their own staff to enable us to distribute. Not only did the children (higher classes) take, but even parents came to us asking for a copy.
Let us be aware of the fact that just believing in Christ will save us from hell, but not enable us to enter Heaven. It is only when we witness Christ and bring His lost sheep to Him that we will be able to enter Heaven. The oil (testimony) in our own lamps will not let us get us to enter Heaven; we need the extra oil (testimonies of others) to enter Heaven.
So let us not be ashamed of Christ and openly declare we are Christians, not just verbally but also in the way we live our lives.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are Holy God and Your Name is Holy. It is the power in Your Name that saves us and keeps us. Lord, we pray that we do not be ashamed of Your Name, then there is no hope for us. We pray we dare to declare You to the world as and when required…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
