Lamentation 4: 9 [They that be] slain with the sword are better than [they that be] slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for [want of] the fruits of the field.
Today’s scripture is deep, for it says it is better to be wounded by truth than to be wounded by lack of truth, for at the end, there will be no fruit within us.
When we see the foolishness that is happening with ‘Christians’ celebrating Lent and so-called ‘Holy Week, ’ it shows how wounded they are with spiritual hunger. They totally lack understanding of scriptures, and in their lack of understanding, they are trying to prove God failed.
A couple of days back, I was fellowshipping with some Pastors and Church leaders. There was a senior Pastor who was sharing the Word. He spoke about Lent, preparing for ‘Good Friday’, and about being sorry for our sins.
When I was given the opportunity to speak, I shared John 7:39, which speaks of the Passover as the glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ. The world sees defeat, but we see victory. They see an end, but we see a beginning. They see failure, but we see fulfilment of that which was promised to us, a way to Heaven being opened.
Today, spiritually starved people will celebrate Palm Sunday, not knowing it was last Sunday. They will celebrate the Last Supper on Wednesday, not knowing that it happened yesterday, on the evening of the Jewish Sabbath and the start of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. They will celebrate Good Friday, not knowing He was crucified and died on Thursday. They will celebrate Easter, not knowing it has to do with the birth of the goddess Ashtoreth instead of celebrating Resurrection Sunday. They will think their celebration pleases God, not knowing it angers Him thoroughly.
Being wounded by the Word is a thousand times better than facing the wrath of God by our lack of spiritual understanding.
[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You, Lord, are Light, and there is no darkness in You. Your Word is Light and guides us to all Truth. Lord, we pray that your people see the foolishness they are doing, taking Your name due to their lack of understanding, their spiritual poverty. Lord we pray their eyes be opened, and they see their foolishness…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
